Shops are open Mon-Fri about 8 or 9 am to 6 or 7:30 pm; Saturdays about 8 or 9 am to 5 pm. Basically all shops are closed on Sunday.

The city’s most important shopping street is "Mariahilferstraße" with the usual selection of national and international chains lining the street. To go there you can take the subway line U3; the station is Neubaugasse or Zieglergasse.

In the first district, the "Kärntnerstraße" is the place to go (but no supermarkets there!) "Kohlmarkt" is the place for exclusive shops, while "Meinl" on the "Graben" is the city’s best address for buying delicious food.
If you look for less expensive self-catering food shops, go for the "Billa", "Hofer" and "Spar" supermarkets, which are scattered all around the city.
